I am not sure if it is a coincidence, a lesson to be learned or something to share. However, as of lately I’ve been reminded of the dreaded NO.

A FEW THINGS ABOUT “NO” (at least for me any who)

  • It sucks! Seriously hearing a no can feel horrible
  • It can feel like rejection on steroids… sometimes separating your value from the No can feel seemingly impossible
  • IT’S-A PRE-REQUISITE FOR GREATNESS …PERIOD!

My 11-year old daughter was devastated this school year when she was cut from not one, but two teams. I tapped into everything that I could think of to cheer her up.

With the Full House music playing in my head — you know at the end of every episode when they have a life lesson for ya? Well, that was me recounting the rejection of the great athletes like Michael Jordan, Ray Allen & Allen Iverson… no, I’m not good at basketball… and no I have no clue why they came to my mind because she wasn’t even trying out for basketball.

But that’s all that I could muster up. As I shared with her all of the reasons that she could not let that stop her from “Being Great” I couldn’t help but feel a bit of the weight myself.

How many times have I (or you) allowed someone else’s no to convince us that our idea was worthless, or that we weren’t good enough, or that God had somehow kicked us to the curb when it came to our destiny?

Well I know it’s not a coincidence that this has been a resounding theme in my life as of lately. So, if you have found yourself experiencing what might feel like rejection. If you have received a NO when you thought for certain the opportunity was for sure yours…I have a simple thought/ tid bit of advice for you.

KEEP IT MOVING! A No can only stop you if you allow it. Instead of asking “What’s wrong with you?” ask “What’s right for you”

Closed doors more often than not are leading you to something MUCH BETTER for you. (yes I love ALL CAPS..AND YES I’M YELLING!!)

So get back up RIGHT NOW and take the time to discover what space that NO left open for something greater.

If all of this excitement isn’t enough for you…I literally just received a “No thank you” from an opportunity that I’ve received several YES’s from in the past. I could:

(a) cry about it and stop going forward OR

(b) use this as an opportunity to finally update my blog and inspire you & me

… I choose plan #2.

Let me know how that no turns out for you. If you’ve received rejection only to be met with a story of great triumph..take 5 secs or so to share below. You never know who needs to hear your story
